Wilko's Messages of Hope
By Reading, Watching, Listening, and LEARNING.
SHARING what we LEARN, and being
Messengers of Hope.
I passed my Matric way back in 1964. Or should I say, I scraped through.
The only thing I wanted to get out of school was me!
That's the last studying I did, but I never stopped learning in the years that followed.
The children writing their exams must understand that this is only the beginning of their journey of learning and achieving.
I wish them well in the exams.
And good fortune in the years to come.
Our housekeeper of 35 years is retiring at the end of the year.
I'm very proud of what she has achieved. She owns her own house in Polokwane, where she will retire.
I have applied for her job. So when she leaves I will be the "house-husband".
I hope I can do her job half as well as she did.
Happy retirement, Lizzie.
As a “home-body” I am also lucky enough to have the time to attend webinars, watch interviews, podcasts, and spend time with some very interesting people, which I am happy to share with you.
All in the interest of promoting optimism in our beautiful country. Business, Politics, and General Well-being.
Democracy is local
In South Africa, democracy isn’t just about national elections—it starts at the local level, in our communities.
It’s in the town halls, ward committees, and resident meetings where real change begins.
Local democracy empowers citizens to shape their daily lives by engaging directly with decisions on infrastructure, services, and development.
South Africa’s Constitution guarantees the right to participate in government.
By making your voice heard in local governance, you help ensure that municipalities are accountable and responsive.
Whether it's about fixing roads, addressing water shortages, or improving community safety, local democracy is the first step to solving the issues that impact us most.
When we engage with our municipalities and community forums, we strengthen the democratic fabric of our country.
In South Africa, change starts locally—and every voice matters in building a better future for all.
Yours in empowerment,
Regards,
Julius Kleynhans.
